Not So Cool Runnings…

Sweet Kicks

The Moon Family Band has gotten a bit out of shape (not the dog, of course). It seems that once you hit 30, it’s not so easy to skate by being a total slacker. It all starts to catch up to you.Earlier this year, Josh became a running fool, and even has plans to run an actual race. Well, all this peer pressure was bound to trickle down (this only works for running, not economics, as we’ve recently learned), and I’ve succumbed. So, today I started the “Couch to 5K Running Plan.” It sucks. You know, because you have to actually run. But, it’s a very sensible plan. Anyway, there are some very helpful podcasts out there that help with the intervals, giving you verbal cues when you need to walk or run. I’m using the one that doesn’t have any music, and have put my own tracks over it. Josh got us an iPod (we’re the last people ever to have one) and this is my Week 1 play list that I mixed in Garage Band:

Brimful of Asha – Cornershop
Goodbye Earl – Dixie Chicks
7 Nation Army
– White Stripes
Living in Fast Forward – Kenny Chesney
Gutterfly
– Lifesavas
New York, New York – Ryan Adams
Black President – Nas

I know I should be embarassed by my bizarre playlist, but I’m not. Unfortunately, there are no Moon Family Band Orginals that are appropriate for C25K training…

  1. i wonder if i would be more motivated to do c25k (I have been doing it, but not sticking with it thru the whole thing) if i traded podcasts with other c25k-ers? Your list looks fun.

  2. wait wait wait wait wait

There is a *customizable* podcast? Dude, why didn’t you TELL me!?!?!?!

    Sheesh!

I start Week 1 Day 1 tomorrow. Wish me luck! Wish I had some rad shoes like that, though. :)
